Restorative Spokes Hires Ed Martin
Our bike shop has undergone a remarkable makeover, thanks to funding from a Vermont Community Foundation SPARK grant that enabled us to hire Ed Martin, a bike mechanic reintegrating into our community. Although the SPARK grant has concluded, Ed continues to volunteer his time in the shop, joined by Thomas Miller, who has been a valuable part of our team since 2019.
We now have 20 bikes ready to ride, which are central to our vision for a summer youth biking program, a collaboration with the Springfield Police Department, Probation and Parole, and the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center. Further boosting our efforts, a generous board member has offered $200 for each bike we can provide to a community member.
